Anil Sen
“When you get to practice against the best, it brings the best out of you” Anil is the creative director of the most famous salon of Udaipur, Champion Salon at Celebration mall. He is also a successful and renowned hairdresser. He did his schooling at Vidya Niketan School, Udaipur. And was diverted towards Science-Math and also by the influence of friends he did Btech from Maharaja College of Engineering, Udaipur. Later he went to Colombo, Sri Lanka for a course at the famous Image hair academy. Sen is the first person from Rajasthan to be certified in basic and advanced cut and Color Diploma. Though life was not easy in Colombo as communication was a hurdle. He did learn how to communicate in English and with his determination and constant hard work, completed the course.
From the very beginning, Anil was interested in the field of hairdressing, so he followed his interest and entered into his family business. Life here was a bit easy as he had full support from his family. So, then he decided to handle the salon and give it a new height which he is doing with flying colors. With full dedication towards work and zeal to do something, he participated in various competitions, worldwide. The first one was a National Level competition which was also held for the first time in India. That year he was defeated but the following year he won bronze. Then in 2014, he participated in the Hair World cup held in Frankfurt, Germany where he represented India with his team and bagged 4th position. Then back again in 2015, he participated and made India proud by bagging 4th position at the Asia cup. Even at a National Level competition organized by Matrix, India, he came in top 10 (only person from Rajasthan), out of 3000 entries from the entire India.
At 2013 National level hairstyling competition, Anil’s task was from the female category to do a curly hairstyle. But due to his nervousness and anxiety, he messed up the thing by turning on the tongs much before. He was fortunate that the hot tongs didn’t cause any trouble, before which the electricity was shut down. Then and there his father made him understand that whether we win or lose, what matters is the experience that we have gained. While growing up Anil considered his uncle, Kamlesh Sen who is a renowned person in this field, has inspired him to be what he is today. He supported him, motivated him, guided him, and taught him to keep trying until you reach the destination. His main teaching to him was to work with basics first then practice hard to make it perfect.
Anil is focused on eliminating the notion of thinking bad about barbers. He wants to educate people to make them understand that this field is not just about hair cutting, but actually, this is an art that is the main part of our look and appearance. Also, there is no caste barrier to this field, everyone interested is welcomed over here, and he wants to spread this word. Client satisfaction is what he wants.Anil suggests that an individual interested in this field should first explore it, learn about it, get its exposure, and should know about the future opportunities in this field. Also, one should first start from basics and later on gradually shift towards advance and then perfection, no matter how long it takes. Also, he strongly believes that “ Practice makes a man perfect”, so one should keep practicing hard. Anil strongly believes that education plays a great role in improving one’s lifestyle and shaping his/her future. Also, the experience is what makes us grow so we should keep trying for the better.
Anil believes that social media is the only medium that has uplifted the field of hairdressing. It has and is changing people’s notion towards this field. Also, social media keeps us updated about the latest trends and styles and gives us new ideas, and helps us to expand our domain of creativity. Anil is an active Instagram user, which he says he uses to keep himself updated about the latest trends, and it also helps him to explore more and get new ideas.
